Alfie signs contract extension
Somerset seamer, Alfie Ogborne has signed a one-year contract extension.
The left-armer’s current deal was due to expire at the end of 2026 but he has now put pen to paper on an agreement which will see him represent the Club until at least the end of the 2027 season.
The 22-year-old played his way through the Somerset Age Group system and was a part of the Club’s Emerging Player Programme before joining the Potential Somerset Player Programme in the winter of 2020.
The former Ansford Academy and Richard Huish student played club cricket for North Perrott as well as representing Dorset before joining WEPL Premier One side Bridgwater CC.
He made his full Somerset List A debut against Durham in 2022 and has gone on to feature in 17 List A matches and three First Class fixtures for the Club, taking 28 wickets with a best of five for 41.
Alfie was a member of the Somerset side that won the Second XI T20 competition last summer and played a vital role as the Club reached the final of the 2024 Metro Bank One Day Cup.

After signing his extension, Alfie said: “I’m over the moon. This is the Club that I’ve been at my whole life, and this is the Club I want to stay at because it feels like home. This is the best place to play cricket in the country. You don’t get the support that we do anywhere else, and the atmosphere is unique.
“I feel like I’ve had a couple of good years in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, and I want to make the most of any opportunities that come my way, and the goal is to become a regular in all formats.
“I’ve been playing cricket here since I was 10, so I don’t know any different and I don’t want to know any different. I’m fortunate to be playing at such an amazing Club and I don’t want that to change.”
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “We’ve been really impressed by Alfie’s desire to improve every aspect of his game since joining the professional staff. His enthusiasm and approach for the game are an example to any aspiring player.
“He has represented the Club with distinction both on and off the field on a number of occasions over the last few years and we are looking forward to seeing him continue his development and his journey to achieving all his aspirations with us over the next few years.”
