Earlier this year, we got the latest game in the Mafia series, and it seems as though the saga isn’t over yet.
Carina Conti, who plays Isabella Torrisi in Mafia: The Old Country, has said that a new game in the crime drama franchise has received the green light.
The actor made a guest appearance on a Twitch livestream of the game, during which she was answering questions from viewers.
After a question regarding the story came in, she said (at approximately 1:08:35) that developer Hangar 13 “was approved for a sequel, for another Mafia game, which is very exciting.”
Conti went on to discuss how the stories in the Mafia games tend to be standalone, but that they all intertwine in various ways and that it’s all within the same universe.
Mafia: The Old Country winds back the clock to early 1900s Sicily, where organised crime is in its earlier days. While it introduces new characters and tells its own tale, there are recurring characters and ideas in the other titles.
It’s not clear whether Conti’s comment is referring to a direct sequel to Old Country, or she means another original story within the Mafia saga. Either way, it would appear more is on the way.
We should also say that, just because a supposed new game has been approved, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll see the light of day; games are cancelled all the time for numerous reasons. Hopefully that doesn’t happen, of course, but it’s not impossible given how early it would appear to be in production.
Anyway, what do you think? Would you like to see another Mafia game in the future? Would you want it to be another period piece, or something more modern? Tell us in the comments section below.
