Essex GPs treat more patients for insect stings and bites

It came during the local NHS service’s busiest summer on record, with 71,000 more appointments delivered than last year’s 575,000 total.

Typically, summer months are quieter in healthcare settings due to lower levels of respiratory illnesses.

But the almost 2,000 appointments for infected insect bites went against this trend, which was more than double than in July 2024.
