Liverpool are reportedly keen on Real Madrid forward Rodrygo should Luis Diaz depart during this summer transfer window. The Reds are bracing for another approach from Bayern Munich for the latter.

Florian Wirtz has already arrived at the club, and Hugo Ekitike is now due to bolster the frontline further. Liverpool are adamant that Diaz is not for sale despite those attacking additions.

However, they would seek to sign a replacement if the Colombia international was to leave. That is where Rodrygo could come in as part of a move allowing the Reds to field a new-look forward line; here is the latest reporting.

What Rodrygo’s agent is saying

Rodrygo’s agent has reputedly told people that Liverpool are keen on his client. However, there is said to be no direct contact at this stage.

In the latest video on his YouTube channel, the journalist Lewis Steele claims that a source in Madrid who knows Rodygo’s representative relayed this information last week. He also says that the same contact previously shared details during the Trent Alexander-Arnold saga that proved to be true.

The situation is reported to be one to watch as ‘interest is there’. However, any deal would depend on outgoings, such as Ben Doak, Darwin Nunez, Diaz, Federico Chiesa or Harvey Elliott.

Real Madrid stance

Sources close to the first team are said to believe that Real Madrid are “overbooked” for forwards, and as such, there could still be some exits. The Athletic claims the situation with Rodrygo is one to follow closely.

AS reports that Madrid’s signings significantly affect the Brazil international, with his standing within the team becoming increasingly complicated as Madrid have signed Franco Mastantuono from River Plate earlier than expected.

That deal only adds to the competition for places out wide. Even without the new £40million signing in their squad, Rodrygo barely played at the Club World Cup under Xabi Alonso this summer.
