There is $8.96 million in prize money available to the women’s singles players at the WTA China Open this week. The winner will receive more than $1m.

The Tennis Gazette writers have predicted which player will lift the WTA China Open trophy next Sunday.
Matthew Johns: Perhaps predictable, but I am going to go with top seed Iga Swiatek to win the China Open. Swiatek has been hugely impressive in the second half of the 2025 season and will likely be sensing an opportunity to close the gap on the absent world number one, Aryna Sabalenka. Coco Gauff may be the defending champion, but she still feels like too much of an unknown quantity going into this event.
Lee Clarke:  I really like the look of defending champ Coco Gauff here. She says she views this as a ‘practice tournament’ and, having won it last year, she clearly likes playing here.
George Patten: Elena Rybakina has looked increasingly competitive over recent months, but has yet to record a standout result. She may do just that in Beijing and take home her first WTA 1000 title of the year.
Peter Lynch: Iga Swiatek has been a formidable opponent for most of the WTA Tour in recent times, and I think she can continue her fantastic season with yet another title this week, having just won the Korea Open.
