Hurdler can level things up at Newmarket on Thursday, September 25, according to the Daily Star’s chief tipster and horse racing expert Jason HeaveyEast India Dock is Newsboy's Triumph Hurdle pickEast India Dock is Newsboy’s Triumph Hurdle pick(Image: PA)

SAIL in with the versatile EAST INDIA DOCK (4.10, nap) in the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.

The four-year-old, trained by James Owen, really took to hurdling in his novice campaign, notching three straight wins before finishing third in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

And the son of Golden Horn showed he still had great ability on the Flat too when landing the Chester Cup in May.

His two subsequent runs at Royal Ascot and the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle were solid without being spectacular and he is still fancied to see off hot favourite Palladium.

In the feature race at Pontefract, CHILLINGHAM (4.28) looks the value call in the Simon Scrope Dalby Screw-Driver Handicap.

The Ed Bethell-trained course and distance winner was rightly awarded the Queen Mother’s Cup at York in June.

And the six-year-old has performed well on two of his three starts since in stronger company, including a sixth-placed finish in a handicap back at York five weeks ago.

Now operating just 1lb above his last winning mark, and further helped by useful claimer Archie Young taking another 5lbs off his back, he looks ripe to win again.

Over the sticks at Perth, SAFE DESTINATION (3.43, nap) looks a safe bet in the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap Chase.

The seven-year-old from the Twiston-Davies’ yard has made a winning seasonal reappearance the last two years.

He was particularly consistent last season, winning three times and being runner-up three times from seven runs.

In the following race at the Scottish track, CHASING FIRE (4.18, trb) can come up trumps in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle.

Olly Murphy’s course winner had a disappointing time over fences last season but proved he retained plenty of ability when third in a seven-runner handicap hurdle at Perth in April.

Champion jockey Sean Bowen is back on board and this first crack at a staying trip over hurdles could prove just the job.
