Chelsea supporters have not been too happy with the club’s owners and sporting directors of late.
Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have invested a lot of money into the Blues‘ squad since arriving in west London. No one can deny that.
However, fans have often questioned how co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have used that money. For example, with Levi Colwill picking up a serious injury before the season kicked off, supporters wanted to see the arrival of a new central defender, which never came.
Many were also hopeful that a goalkeeper would be signed, something that the club did look at.

Chelsea were keen on Mike Maignan but could not agree on a fee with AC Milan. The 30-year-old could now end up joining Premier League rivals Manchester United instead, which would infuriate Blues fans.
According to talkSPORT, United are now interested in signing Maignan, with Ruben Amorim wanting a more experienced No.1.
Maignan’s contract expires next summer, meaning United or Chelsea may be able to sign him on a free transfer.

Enzo Maresca‘s current first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez continues to show inconsistency. Last weekend, Sanchez was sent off against United, costing his side at Old Trafford.
Ultimately, his unreliability between the sticks is why Chelsea fans want a new shot-stopper, and Maignan is the ideal replacement.
He is a world-class goalkeeper who has experience at the very top after playing for Milan and the France national team. The fact that the 30-year-old could cost nothing makes targeting him again even more of a no-brainer.
If Chelsea miss out on Maignan to United, supporters are going to be furious with the club’s leadership and are likely to take that fury to social media, as they often do. And if Sanchez is still making mistakes next season as the team’s No.1, do not be surprised to see that fury in the Stamford Bridge stands either.

As well as Sanchez, Chelsea’s second-choice goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen may also need to be replaced next summer.
Jorgensen was disappointing against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, while it has also been reported in the past that the Denmark international is not happy being the No.2.
If BlueCo do not address the team’s goalkeeper situation properly in 2026, things could get ugly.
