Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has made his feelings clear on Casemiro following the experienced midfielder’s red card against Chelsea last weekend.
Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 to climb to 11th in the Premier League table. The result helped ease some of the pressure on Ruben Amorim’s shoulders, but the Red Devils must make it back-to-back wins when they travel to Brentford on Saturday.
Chelsea were trailing 2-0 and down to 10 men when Casemiro received a second yellow card.
Casemiro had picked up an early booking 17 minutes in when he caught Enzo Fernández on the back of the leg with a sliding tackle. Then, in stoppage time in the first half, he dragged Andrey Santos down before being sent for an early shower.
The dismissal made the game more even in the second half, but United held on at the end to secure three points with a memorable 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Although Casemiro’s red card dominated the headlines, the Brazilian was responsible for scoring United’s second goal after Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock.
As United fans left the ground on Saturday, Casemiro’s red card proved to be a big talking point.
Some felt it was a harsh decision and accused referee Peter Bankes of trying to make it a level playing field after Chelsea were rightly reduced to 10 men following Robert Sanchez’s reckless tackle on Bryan Mbeumo.
Pundits Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer felt it was a harsh booking, but many others felt otherwise.
Former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce was not pleased with Casemiro.
Allardyce watched the game in the company of Sir Alex Ferguson and felt Casemiro’s reckless streak was a detriment to Amorim’s team.
Speaking to Ben Foster on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Allardyce was critical of Casemiro’s conduct against Chelsea.
“It’s ridiculous,” Allardyce said.
“I mean, the man of his experience and his age who can’t control himself. He’s just an old player. He’s not an experienced player, because he’s still doing the same things. He’s still doing the same things all his career that he should have cut out years ago, and particularly now, he’s not as quick as he used to be, and he should be using it.
“He should be using his experience to make sure that doesn’t happen. But he’s not. He’s just doing the same old things he’s always done, diving in, jumping in, and obviously, because he’s slowing down, he’s getting booked and sent off more.
“As talented as he is, and he is, on the ball. It’s a detriment to your team.”
When does Casemiro return?
Casemiro will not be available to face Brentford on Saturday due to suspension.
The midfield veteran will serve a one-game suspension after his recent dismissal, meaning he will have to watch the Brentford game from the sidelines or in the comfort of his home.
Casemiro will return the following week to take on Sunderland at Old Trafford.
That allows Kobbie Mainoo or Manuel Ugarte to start this weekend.
