A trailer for Ozzy Osbourne‘s upcoming documentary has revealed that his farewell concert was a final gift from wife Sharon. Paramount+ film Ozzy: No Escape From Now arrives on the platform in October, exploring how the rock legend’s chronic pain impacted his mental health towards the end of his life.

Ozzy took to the stage one last time in Birmingham for the Back to the Beginning concert in July, just weeks before his death at the end of the month. The 76-year-old died at his Buckinghamshire home after suffering a heart attack.

In an extended trailer for the documentary, Sharon and Ozzy discuss the July concert before it takes place. “What do you think, we do a big farewell show?” Sharon asks him, with Ozzy replying: “I want to say to my fans, thank you for the years.”

Smash Pumpkins star Billy Corgan then tells the camera: “This is Sharon’s gift to Ozzy. You deserve this.” While Sharon then says: “It’s going to be a celebration for everyone.”

Ozzy goes on to tell the camera: “It’s got to be the best show in the world when I do it. Otherwise, what’s the point doing it?”

The documentary also looks at Ozzy’s battle with chronic pain and how it affected his mental health. Sharon tells the film: “At that time, the depression was so bad. [He’d] be like what’s the point in even getting up? I’m not getting up. I’m not working with the physiotherapist. What’s the point?”

Ozzy went onto record Take What You Want with Post Malone in 2019, therefore beginning the next stage in his musical career. “‘It got me out of the blues. It helped me. That was the best medicine I ever had at that point,” he says in the documentary.

He followed up the single with two albums – 2020’s Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9, which came two years later. Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack tells the film: “I do think that Ordinary Man is less an Ozzy Osbourne album and more a John Osbourne album.

“There’s a lot of themes in it [where he is] processing his own life and mortality and what he’s facing.”

Earlier this week, Post Malone paid tribute to Ozzy at his London shows. The music star kicked off his gags at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a rendition of the Princes of Darkness’ biggest hits – singing Take What You Want in an Ozzy emblazoned vest.

Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now arrives on Paramount+ on 7 October.
