A statement from Companies House shows a major cash injection from the club’s ownersYasir Al-Rumayyan chairman of Newcastle United (centre) and co-owner Jamie Reuben were in attendance for the defeat against Liverpool.
Newcastle United owners have injected a further £106.5m into club coffers in their highest one-off investment to date since the Saudi-backed takeover in 2021.
And, according to a statement from Companies House, Newcastle have also injected £5m into the women’s team set-up.
It means since taking over the club from Mike Ashley, PIF and the Reuben family have now poured £459.4m into Newcastle so far.
It remains to be seen where the new injection will be invested but it is expected to be ploughed into day to day running costs for the Magpies.
However, that could end up being used to make signings or put towards players signing new contracts. Either way, Newcastle’s main backers have undrlined their commitment after questions on the club’s future from some observers following the sale of Alexander Isak and some previously barren transfer windows.
When asked about commitment in the transfer market, Jamie Reuben said at the Champions League draw: “They (fans) should rest assured we are working hard. We have worked hard all summer to make sure the team is in the best possible condition to compete at the highest level of football.
“That is what we always want. We have worked hard and will continue working very hard up until the last second to make sure the team is in tip top shape for the campaign ahead.”
Recently appointed CEO David Hopkinson spoke of the “exciting times” that lie ahead at St James’ Park after his appointment at the start of the month.
He said then: “Since arriving, I have had so many conversations with people inside and outside the club. I’ve gained invaluable insights, and I’m looking forward to connecting and engaging with more of you in the weeks and months to come.
“I’m also looking forward to getting out into the community in the coming weeks to meet more of you and understand what makes this region so special.
“My first impression is this is one united family, on and off the pitch. It is the people who make this football club so special and it is a privilege for me and my family to now be a part of it.
“I’m also truly excited about the future that lies ahead of us. My aim is to build on the tremendous work that preceded me with a renewed sense of alignment for everyone, helping us to grow and win together.
“While I have seen, heard and felt your pride and passion at close hand in recent days, I strongly suspect it will be nothing compared to what I will experience at St James’ Park in the coming days.”
