Maximum Security, the champion 3-year-old male of 2019, has been relocated to Breakway Farm in Dillsboro, Ind., for the 2026 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $3,500.

The 9-year-old son of New Year’s Day previously stood at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., where began his stallion career in 2021. His oldest runners are 3-year-olds of 2025.

“With all he’s achieved, we’re confident that he will be really well received in the Indiana program,” said Breakway Farm’s Tara Mathias.

From two crops of racing age, Maximum Security has sired 39 winners and compiled progeny earnings of more than $2.8 million.

His most successful runner to date is the Irish-bred Rosa Salvaje, who won the French Group 3 Prix Chloe on July 20.

Among his stateside runners, Maximum Security is led by Instant Replay, who finished third in the G2 Louisiana Derby, and has followed up with victories in the Bathhouse Row Stakes at Oaklawn Park, the Texas Derby at Lone Star Park, and the Super Derby at Louisiana Downs. He is also the sire of Grade 3-placed Maximum Promise.

During his own on-track career, Maximum Security came into the 2019 Kentucky Derby unbeaten in four starts, highlighted by a front-running 3 1/2-length win in the G1 Florida Derby. He crossed the wire first in the Kentucky Derby, but he was disqualified to 17th due to interference at the top of the stretch.

The second half of Maximum Security’s 3-year-old season saw him tally a win in the G1 Haskell Invitational Stakes, then defeat older foes in the G3 Bold Ruler Handicap and Cigar Mile Handicap en route to earning the Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old male.

He came back at four to finish first in the inaugural running of the Saudi Cup, but he was disqualified more than four years after the race following a Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia investigation into trainer Jason Servis following his federal conviction for two charges related to adulterating and misbranding drugs.

Maximum Security’s 4-year-old campaign also featured G2 San Diego Handicap and the G1 Pacific Classic Stakes. He retired at the end of the season with nine wins in 14 starts for earnings of $2,431,900.

Bred in Kentucky by Gary & Mary West Stables Inc., Maximum Security is out of the winning Anasheed mare Lil Indy, who is the dam of four winners from seven foals to race. His extended family includes Grade 1 winners Flat Out and Got Koko.
