The presenters of the most listened to podcast in tennis are heading to Wrexham next month to host an exciting live show.
The Tennis Podcast team will entertain fans at the Grove Park Theatre on Wednesday, October 22, during the week of the Lexus Wrexham Open tournament.
Having previously only staged live shows this year in London, Melbourne and New York, alongside Grand Slam tournaments, tennis commentator David Law, TV presenter Catherine Whitaker and Matt Roberts are looking forward to coming to North Wales.
The Tennis Podcast – which has clocked up more than 20 million downloads from over 100 countries – was recently named by TIME, the American news magazine, in their list of the 100 Best Podcasts of All Time.
Catherine said: “We’re very conscious of how London-centric tennis events are in the UK, so it’s been a goal of ours for a while to put on a show outside of London, and Wrexham felt like the ideal opportunity.
“With the success and popularity of the football club, it feels like the city has become a real sporting community, and with the W100 event happening that week it felt like the perfect vibe to tap into.
“We always try and make our live shows something more than just the podcast, while maintaining the same vibe and chemistry that makes people enjoy the show in the first place.
“Fundamentally, whether we’re on stage or at a Grand Slam or on a zoom call together, it’s the three of us having fun and talking about the sport we love, and that’s the thread that runs through everything.
“One thing we do try and do at all our live shows is hang around for a while in the bar afterwards and chat to people that want to have the chance to say hello.
“Podcasting is such a personal medium and being able to meet people in person that have supported and listened for many years is a very special experience.”
Dave Courteen, tournament promoter for the Lexus Wrexham Open, said The Tennis Podcast live show promises to be a fantastic evening at Wrexham’s Grove Park Theatre in Hill Street.
He added: “I am a big fan of the Tennis Podcast. I listen to all of the episodes and went to their London show earlier this year, so it is an amazing coup to be able to get them to Wrexham for a special evening of lively tennis chat with plenty of interaction with the audience.
“It’s really exciting that they are going to be part of the Lexus Wrexham Open week.
“The event is sure to be a sell out, so I would urge people keen to come along to get the last few remaining tickets as soon as possible.”
The Lexus Wrexham Open, a W100 tournament that’s part of the ITF World Tennis Tour, takes place on the indoor courts at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre between October 19-26.
Featuring British and international stars, including players ranked in the world’s top 100, it’s the biggest event in women’s tennis to be staged in the UK in 2025, outside of the grass court season.
Tickets for The Tennis Podcast live show, with doors opening at 6.30pm, are priced £27.80 and available to purchase via the website.
