An Edinburgh-born retiree who is hoping to meet his match gets a ‘bit too close for comfort’ on Sunday nights episode of Married at First Sight UK.

Paul, a 60-year-old dad of three, has been paired with Anita, 54. She’s looking for another chance at love, after the breakdown of her 17-year relationship.

While we haven’t met the couple yet in the first five episodes, the E4 programme will be airing their wedding – and first meet – on September 28. A preview of the episode was released, which shows an awkward start for the newlyweds.

Paul, who divorced his ex-wife in 2011, seems to be ‘overwhelming’ new wife Anita. The upcoming tenth instalment of the series, full of romance and drama, will see a fresh batch of singles marry a complete stranger.

Anita and Paul, along with the other hopefuls, will meet their new spouse at the alter before jetting off on luxury honeymoons, moving in together, and attending dinner parties with the rest of the cast.

In the sneak peek, the new bride says: “Getting the photos taken is a bit too close for comfort.

“Yeah, it’s a bit early for that. Obviously I don’t know him.

“I’ve got a lot more to find out about him. But it was a lot, it was really overwhelming.

On Instagram, Paul said: “Well… this isn’t your average relationship update. I’m on Married at First Sight. Yes, it’s real. Yes, I’m nervous. Yes, you should watch.”

Describing Anita, Channel 4 added: “Anita is a proud mother of two and grandmother to three grandkids, who mean everything to her. After losing her mother, her job and then the breakdown of her 17-year relationship in the space of six weeks, Anita decided to change her life around.
