Super League hopefuls Doncaster have confirmed the release of six players following the conclusion of the Championship season.

The Dons are one of seven Championship clubs to apply for a spot in next year’s Super League and it comes after finishing eighth in the second tier in 2025. It was an up and down season for Richard Horne’s men, winning 11 and losing 13 in what was their second year back in the second tier.

However, as they ready themselves for next year, irrespective of what division they might find themselves in, the club have bid farewell to six players.

Ben Johnston and Jason Tali announced their departures earlier this month after confirming decisions to hang up their boots. Tali has been with Doncaster since 2016 but retires at the age of 38, while Johnston has called time on his career following a five-season stint in South Yorkshire after spells with Castleford Tigers, York Knights and Halifax Panthers.

Craig Hall will also leave the club, it has been announced, with the former Hull FC and Hull KR man moving on after two seasons with the club. The full-back made 49 appearances for Doncaster and at the age of 37, his next steps remain to be seen.

Challenge Cup winner Josh Bowden will also be leaving after spending just a season at the Eco-Power Stadium. Bowden, another former Hull FC man, joined ahead of the 2025 season after spending two and a half seasons with Wakefield Trinity.

Teenager Andrew Gill leaves after just a season, while former Hull junior Junior Mafi is the sixth and final man released.

Speaking on those players leaving the club, Doncaster CEO Carl Hall said: “We would like to thank Craig, Ben, Josh, Jason, Junior and Andrew for their dedication to our club throughout their time with us and we would like to wish them well in their new adventures and we look forward to welcoming them back to the Eco-Power Stadium whenever they wish to come and visit us.”
