Paul Merson has made an unnecessary but fair swipe at West Ham United live on Sky Sports this weekend.
West Ham have had an awful start to the season, having already sacked Graham Potter after just six Premier League matches and the fans protesting the ownership.
The fans aren’t happy with how the club is being run as well as the performances on the pitch, one way to tell is the emptiness of the London Stadium, poor performances and heavy defeats have made the stadium clear out massively before the full-time whistle.
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has taken a dig at West Ham fans on Sky Sports in reaction to Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Stamford Bridge cleared out after two late goals from Maxim De Cuyper and Danny Welbeck secured all three points for the Seagulls.
Merson compared Stamford Bridge to how the London Stadium has been this season, saying: “The full-time whistle goes and Stamford Bridge looks like the London Stadium. It’s virtually empty.”
As much as it was a dig at West Ham, the fans can’t help but agree. The 57-year-old is right to call out the London Stadium as an empty ground, season ticket sales are down and fans have just had enough of the stadium.
