As Sony reportedly prepares a new PS5 Pro model for release, word on the street is that the company’s also got a revised DualSense controller ready to go.
This is another rumour that stems from Polish outlet PPE, who previously claimed that Microsoft Flight Simulator 24 was on the cusp of being announced for PS5. That obviously turned out to be accurate, and so the site’s now got some credit in the bank.
Anyway, this supposed DualSense rework will, apparently, feature a removable battery — something that no official PlayStation controller to date has offered.
A removable battery means that you can… well, remove the battery, should the situation demand such a thing. For example, if your DualSense’s current battery life has fallen off a cliff, it’ll be a lot easier to replace the battery itself.
Of course, this raises all kinds of questions regarding Sony’s potential approach to making yet more money out of controller-related sales. How much do you think official DualSense battery packs are going to cost?
(Semi-serious) Jokes aside, if these whispers turn out to be the real deal, then we’d bet on additional information showing up in the near future.
Does a DualSense with a removable battery sound like a good idea to you? Wonder if Sony’ll somehow charge even more for this thing in the comments section below.

Robert (or Rob if you’re lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
