Margaret Qualley likely won’t be appearing in the MCU anytime soon.
Qualley recently played Sue in 2024’s The Substance and will soon be seen in Ethan Cohen’s Honey Don’t!, which arrives in United States theaters next month. She’s also been in movies such as 2016’s The Nice Guys, 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 2022’s Sanctuary, and 2024’s Drive-Away Dolls, while she’s starred in television series such as The Leftovers, Fosse/Verdon, and Maid.
In regard to Marvel, Qualley’s name often comes up in fancasts for Rogue, the popular X-Men character created by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden.
What did Margaret Qualley say about playing the X-Men’s Rogue?
When asked by Collider if she’d like to join a major franchise like the MCU, however, Qualley said she wasn’t interested in doing so at this time.
“Oh, I don’t think I want to commit to a franchise,” she said. “It seems like a lot of time, and I’m scared [laughs].”
In addition to Honey Don’t!, Qualley has a role in Happy Gilmore 2, which arrives on Netflix this Friday. She also stars in Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon movie, which premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February, and will star alongside Jacob Elordi in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, which arrives in 2026.
As for Rogue, no MCU casting has been announced at this time. There is a Marvel Studios X-Men movie in the works that is being directed by Thunderbolts* Jake Schreier; however, there has been no announcement regarding which characters will and won’t show up in it. That film isn’t expected to arrive until after Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the latter of which hits theaters in December 2026.
That being said, Rogue is voiced by Lenore Zann in the animated X-Men ’97 series, which will have at least two more seasons.
