Mladen Sormaz has left his job as sporting director of Barnsley FC.

He was in the role for 19 months after becoming the club’s first permanent sporting director in February of last year.

He has left by mutual consent and is now on gardening leave.

Mladen Sormaz said: “I’d like to thank the board for giving me the opportunity to be Barnsley FC’s first sporting director; it was an honour. I’d also like to place on record thanks to Jon Flatman and the Senior Leadership Team. Finally, I’d like to wish the best to the fans, Conor and the staff, and the lads for the rest of the season ahead.”

Chairman Neerav Parekh added: “The board of directors would like to place on record our thanks to Mladen for the work he has undertaken during his time with the club. We wish him all the best for the future.”
