Cairn, the mountain-climbing game from the makers of Furi and Haven, has been delayed out of 2025.

Developer The Game Bakers have announced the game will be released sometime in Q1 of 2026, with no firm date in place.

In a social media post, the team says the delay is to “ensure that [Cairn] launches at its best” and this will require “a little more time”. The extra time will go into “optimisation, debug, and polish”.

We’ve been running a lot of playtests, and you’ve let us know that we have something truly special with Cairn. However, we also see the improvements we can still make. After five years of work, so close to our goal, it makes no sense to rush.

The game was previously set for release in early November.

While the full game has been pushed back, the playable demo will soon receive an update. On 13th October, the demo’s update will bring player ghosts to the mountain, allowing you to see the paths taken by other people:

We’ve had our eye on Cairn for a while, especially as big fans of the studio’s previous titles. A few more months should be worth it for a polished experience.
