Warrington Wolves’ star winger saw his 2025 season ended painfully early when he left the field during the Challenge Cup semi-final victory over Leigh Leopards in May.
Scans confirmed he had suffered a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee, and a nine-month road to recovery lay out in front of him.
Immediately, focus switched to ensuring the England international would be fit to take a full part in the 2026 campaign, and he posted a big update on his Instagram story earlier today.
With the caption “Today is a good day,” Ashton posted a video of himself running for the first time on an anti-gravity treadmill, which helps to accelerate injury recovery.

Ashton was using the Cheshire Physioactive clinic in Stretton, whose facilities have been used by several Wire players to accelerate their recoveries from injury.
His was the first of three ACL injuries suffered by Warrington players during a torrid 2025, with fellow outside-back Arron Lindop and half-back Oli Leyland also seeing their campaigns brought to an early end.
