The action kicks off tomorrow with a seven-race card which has attracted 110 entries and starts at 2.10pm. It will be the first meeting at Hexham with the new padded hurdles in operation.
The feature contest is the valuable 2m Carol & Malcolm Humble 20th Wedding Anniversary Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3), with the 11 entries including local challengers Double Digits, Les’s Legacy and Winds Of Winter.
Ann Hamilton-trained Double Digits ended last season on a high with wins at Carlisle and Kelso in April, Susan Corbett-trained Les’s Legacy has recorded four of his five career wins at Hexham including a last time out success on June 22, while George Bewley-trained Winds Of Winter boasts form figures of 1212 since being bought for £12,200 after landing a Cartmel Selling Hurdle on May 28.
Previous course winners entered in other races on the card include Upfordebate, Halfway House Lad, Royal Deeside, Divilabother and Getaway Frankie.
The action continues at Hexham a week later on Saturday, October 11, with almost £79,000 prize-money on offer at the Newcastle Rugby Foundation Raceday.
There will be free children’s entertainment at this meeting which starts at 1.55pm and features the 2m4f Positive Change Plate Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (Class 3).
The Hexham meeting on Friday, November 7, will see the course featured on ITV Racing for the first time alongside coverage of the Haldon Gold Cup card at Exeter.
Starting at 12.15pm, it will be the most valuable day’s racing ever staged at the track with total prize-money of £83,050 on offer. The two televised races will be the £20,000 Unibet-sponsored 2m4f Handicap Chase (Class 3) and the £13,000 Unibet-sponsored 2m4f Handicap Hurdle (Class 4).
The other two pre-Christmas fixtures are on Wednesday, November 19, which includes the 4m B K Racing Long Distance Handicap Chase, and on Wednesday 10th December.
In addition, the inner point-to-point track at Hexham hosts the Border fixture on Saturday, November 29, which opens the 2025-26 Northern Area season. The other six Northumbrian dates for your diary are as follows: Alnwick (December 13, January 3, January 25 & February 21), Tranwell (March 28) and Hexham (May 16).
