Following its release in June 1995, the Power Rangers movie immediately became popular among the fans of the franchise. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the story takes place somewhere between Seasons 2 and 3 of the eponymous TV show. It focuses on the Power Rangers ready to battle their “most formidable foe,” Ivan Ooze, played by Paul Freeman. The events unfold after a construction crew stumbles upon a big egg and cracks it open, not knowing that it contains the evil antagonist Ivan Ooze for centuries.
As per the description, the story takes a massive turn when Ooze injures Zordon, the mentor of the Power Rangers, which also leads to the destruction of the source of the Rangers’ power. Following this, the Rangers struggle to fight Ooze without the assistance of their mechanical robots called the Zords.
However, despite earning big numbers at the box office, the movie was subjected to mixed reviews from the critics. Based on critic reviews, on Tomatometer, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie got a score of just 30 percent. Whereas on the Popcornmeter it earned a score of 57 percent based on the reviews by fans.
