Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton
Baffled Kris Boyd reckons that a Celtic contract offer could have been pulled off the table for Brendan Rodgers.
But Hoops’ hero Chris Sutton has shut down the conspiracy theory – and accused the Rangers fan favourite of “making stuff up” about the Parkhead situation.
Rodgers will be out of contract at the end of the season and is inching closer to bringing the curtain down on his second stint in the Celtic Park dugout after three years.
The Celtic boss hasn’t been shy in voicing his frustrations this term after a quiet summer transfer window with fan frustrations aimed at the board continuing to escalate.
And speaking to The Warm Up – which was focussing on the upcoming clash between Hearts and Hibs – Steven Naismith switched the focus to Rodgers. He asked: “Why has he not been offered one now?”
Boyd speculated: “I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something on the table not so long ago, and it has now came to a head. Brendan Rodgers obviously doesn’t get on with….”
Sutton cut in: “This is also massive speculation on both your parts. Let’s get back to the Edinburgh derby, what is you prediction?”
Boyd refused to give up: “You dismissed that?” Sutton refused to be drawn in: “I am dismissing everything you say. You are just making stuff up.”

Former Rangers man Naismith chimed in again: “I just want to know, why have they not offered him a contract? If he is the manager you want, and he is a manager that has been successful with less than a year left, why has he not been offered a contract?”
Sutton conceded: “I am scratching my head as well.”
Boyd went on: “If you have got an elite manager, and there is no doubt that Brendan Rodgers is the best that Celtic are going to get, why would you not want to tie him down?”
Sutton said: “I agree. I am agreeing with what both of you are saying. I can’t give you a good reason, I don’t understand it myself.”
