Renato Veiga’s late equaliser for Villarreal denied Juventus victory in the Champions League.
In the 90th minute, Veiga, who was on loan at Juve during the second half of last season, thumped a powerful header past visiting goalkeeper Mattia Perin.
Juventus had come from behind to lead Villarreal but were pegged back in the final minute of the game.
The La Liga side had started on the front foot and on 18 minutes, Nicolas Pepe slid a delicate ball into the path of Georges Mikautadze, who fired into the bottom corner to put Villarreal in front.
Two minutes into the second half, Juve forward Jonathan David inexplicably shot wide from close range after a teasing low cross from Francisco Conceicao.
The Bianconeri found the leveller soon after when Federico Gatti thumped an overhead kick into the back of the net.
Conceicao, who had come on at half-time, then raced clear through on goal and slotted past home goalkeeper Arnau Tenas as Juve turned the came around.
Conceicao proved to be an inspired substitution for the away side, constantly driving at the Villarreal defence and another dangerous cross was nodded wide by Weston McKennie.
However, Veiga’s late intervention means Juve have only won two of their last 10 matches in the competition (D5 L3).
Villarreal host Manchester City next in the Champions League on 21 October (20:00 BST) with Juventus travelling to Real Madrid a day later (20:00 BST).
