Snow has been forecasted to fall on areas of the United Kingdom in October.

A sprinkling of the white stuff i s expected to descend on Scotland in 10 days.

A patch of purple has been predicted to appear over the Cairngorms National Park area on Sunday, October 12.

According to WX Charts, a total of 7.32cm (2.8 inches) is set to descend over that area that day.

The Met Office cautioned that slightly cooler conditions developing towards the second half of the week commencing October 6.

In its long-range weather forecast from October 7 to 16, the Met Office said: “A broadly westerly pattern to start, allowing maintain relatively mild conditions, especially by night, and with frontal systems moving in from the Atlantic.

“These will bring further spells of rain or drizzle and strong winds at times, these more likely affecting northern and western areas, and especially windward high ground.

“Eastern areas generally look drier.

“By the following weekend (October 11/12), there is a signal for pressure to build to the west or southwest of the UK, whilst low pressure becomes more prevalent to the east.

“This means the bulk of the wet and at times windy weather could shift to affect more eastern areas, with the best of the dry weather towards west or southwest.

“Within this pattern, there is the possibility of slightly cooler conditions developing.”
