Freakier Friday is slated for release on 8 August 2025, and ahead of its debut in cinemas, members of the press have released early reviews, hailing the movie as an “absolute riot” and a “funtastic sequel”.

Taking to X, viewers shared their thoughts on the Freaky Friday sequel, while lauding Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis for their on-screen chemistry and hilarious performances.

Among them, TV host Jeff Conway penned a glowing review, writing: “Freakier Friday is double the fun and twice the sweetness as the original! These 22 years later, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis haven’t missed a beat! Their on-screen chemistry is truly something special. A true delight that the entire family will enjoy!”

Meanwhile, Jazz Tangcay, Variety‘s Senior Artisan Editor, added: “#freakierFriday is an absolute riot! I laughed and I cried. It’s such a great feel-good film. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis deliver hilarity and emotion in this funtastic sequel. I never knew I needed this film! Oh, and Manny Jacinto, I love him.”

Entertainment journalist and podcast host Brandon Davis was equally impressed by the film.

“#FreakierFriday is great. I was howling. Jamie Lee Curtis is having the time of her life, and it’s a blast to watch. It’s silly and sometimes confusing, but hilarious throughout, even touching at times. Absolutely some of the most fun I’ve had watching a movie this year.”

Directed by Nisha Ganatra, Freakier Friday picks up with mother-daughter duo Tess (Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lohan) years after they reluctantly swapped bodies.

As Anna, now a mother to Harper (Julia Butters), prepares to marry Eric (Manny Jacinto) and become a stepmother to his daughter Lily (Sophia Hammons), she and Tess contend with the challenges of merging two families.
