These horses have trialled pleasingly in recent weeks and this week (9/10/25), they head back to the racetrack.

2c Shiver In The Dark (Rock N Roll Heaven – I Smart) Tr. B Shirley

Two Wyndham workout wins during September, the last on 20/9/25 where he showed gate speed to lead before taking a trail behind subsequent Addington winner Indulge Me, got up along passing lane to nose out that runner. MR:2:05.1, 800m in 57.6, 400m in 27.2. That form looks very good now and heads to Northern Southland (at Invercargill) for his debut this Thursday in Race 3 where he has drawn the pole and has the services of Nathan Williamson. Expecting him to be short on the tote with only 6 rivals but ‘where there is smoke, there is fire’.

Beluga (3g Bettor’s Delight – Arden Caviar) Tr. C Ferguson

Won workouts at Wyndham through August and September before his resumption at Winton (18/9/25) which resulted in a very good second to Rightazz, beaten 1/2L after not getting a lot of luck in the running. MR:2:01.1, 800m in 60.4, 400m in 30.4. Well related gelding rating a half to four other winners including smart mare Ruby Roe (8 wins to date) and sure to be improved fitness-wise as he heads to Northern Southland this Thursday (Race 9) for his second start in a new campaign. Hasn’t finished further back than fourrth in 5 career starts. A nice draw gives him a big show to pick up win number two.

Double Jeopardy (4h Captaintreacherous – Bettor Think Twice) Tr. S & A Telfer

Five-race winner who has not started since May but has had two trials at Ashburton in readiness for a new campaign. In his latest trial, he sat back in a 6 horse heat before launching at the 600m to take control and kept going far too well for his rivals headed by Pinseeker, 4L away MR:2:04.6, 800m in 55.9, 400m in 26.5. Resumes at Addington this Friday night in Race 4 and comes up against a couple of ‘smarties’ so his odds could be rather attractive. Did beat the likes of Wag Star last campaign and the latest trial was impressive with quick sectionals.

Jumal (2c Downbytheseaside – Beaudiene Blinkz) Tr. S Reid

Unbeaten colt (5 from 5) who has been back to the trials at Rangiora (2/10/25) where he lined up in a four horse heat (Vessem, Chase A Dream and Harrison John). Only a 2YO remember, trailed third before working into the 1×1 last 500m, powerful sprint to get over the top of his esteemed rivals last 100m, simply awesome. MR:2:00.8, 800m in 55.3, 400m in 27.1. Back at Addington this Friday in Race 12 for start number six worth $200k. Has copped a wide second line draw but that just gives his rivals more of a chance. Currently the top dog amongst the 2YOs and it going to take a mighty effort to knock him off his perch.

Nymbal (2g Lazarus – Glenferrie EJ) Tr. B & G Hughes

Trial winner in August after a promising debut back in May. Three race-day starts since against the best of the northern crop of 2YOs and hasn’t enjoyed the best of luck especially in the last two runs. A last start sixth behind War Chief (19/9/25) where he found no gaps late and less than 3L from the winner. MR1:58.0, 800m in 56.8, 400m in 27.5. Gets his chance this Friday at Auckland in Race 9 for Non-Win 2YOs. Draws the pole and only has five rivals to contend with. Should be able to control matters from the draw and big show to get his maiden win.

Burnham Girl (3f Bettor’s Delight – Tinisha Franco) Tr. M Jones

Currently balloted out of Race 9 at Akaroa on Sunday (1st emergency) but Sam Ottley already the notified driver. Freshened since her last race-day appearance and a very creditable second at Rangiora trial (2/10/25) behind the very handy Midnight Miki in a 2:00.9MR, 800m in 56.8. Led on that occasion from wide draw and although squarely beaten in the end, had the other 7 rivals well covered. No grass track form to speak of but has placed in 1:55 and not to be taken lightly if she gets back into the field. Drawn handily too.
