The 21-year-old middleweight was a convincing unanimous winner on the scorecards when he made his debut in the paid ranks against experienced Costa Rican Jose Aguirre, 36, at BOXPARK Liverpool.
Turner built up a following during his successful amateur years and a big crowd made their way from Warrington to support the former Birchwood Community High School student on his big night.
They all would have noted that Turner, who looked in fantastic shape, was impressive in adapting to a more professional style, planting his feet and letting his big shots go on the inside.
He landed some heavy shots to the body and head while keeping the range and slipping everything that came at him.
Turner, who trains at the Everton Red Triangle club in Liverpool, had a great first round in particular. He was very fast, hurting his opponent on multiple occasions as every hard shot landed. It is hoped he will have another fight before Christmas.
He won three national titles and multiple England international bouts as an amateur.
Turner first started training in the gym at six-years-old and had his maiden fight aged 10 with Warrington’s Phoenix Fire ABC.
After nine years at Phoenix Fire, with whom he won two junior titles and gained England honours, he joined Everton Red Triangle and won the senior National Association of Boys Clubs (NABC) middleweight title in Essex last year.
That made the Carrington Park youngster the UK’s number-one-ranked amateur boxer.
