The public holiday falls on Monday, October 13.
Most health centres and GP practices in the Borders will be closed for the public holiday.
NHS Borders advises people to seek the right care at the right time to help protect services for those in critical need.
The NHS recommends ordering prescriptions up to ten working days in advance and stocking up on over-the-counter medications for common seasonal ailments.
Some community pharmacies will be open on the public holiday, offering expert advice and treatment for various illnesses and ailments.
While Galashiels Health Centre’s public dental services will be closed, Hawick Dental Centre and Coldstream Dental Centre will be open for emergencies.
Emergency dental care can be accessed by calling 0300 7900 710 from 8am to 6pm and NHS 24 on 111 out of hours.
The NHS Inform website offers self-help guides for a wide range of ailments and information about services available to meet individual needs.
The emergency department is reserved for critical, life-threatening situations such as suspected heart attacks, strokes, and excessive bleeding.
For non-critical situations, NHS 24 can be reached on 111, day or night.
If attending the emergency department without a critical emergency, patients will be redirected to appropriate community care or advised on self-management at home.
This measure helps manage resources effectively and ensures immediate attention for those in critical need.
