Deontay Wilder is set to return in January having signed on the dotted line for his next outing.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ made his comeback earlier this year in a routine stoppage victory over fellow countryman Tyrrell Herndon in June.

Wilder is looking for the biggest fights available in the sport with limited time left on the clock.

It is seen as last chance saloon for the devastating KO artist, who has yet to fully bounce back after two consecutive defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

He has been heavily linked with blockbuster showdowns against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and bitter rival Anthony Joshua.

And now in a teasing update, Wilder has revealed he has already made his next bout official, and will announce the opponent in due course.

He said during a live stream: “I do have something coming up. We’re looking in January.

“I’ve signed the contract already. I can’t [give] no details at this point, but it’s definitely live.

“It’s gonna happen. I got a big year next year, I’m looking forward to it, all I can say is two-time. Let’s go.”

Wilder’s opponent has yet to be disclosed, but he has hinted that he will be looking for a route back to a world title shot.

In order to do so, the veteran will at least have to fight a top 15 ranked opponent.

Who could Deontay Wilder fight in his return?

There are a raft of options available for Wilder which includes two blockbuster names.

It was previously unclear if the ‘Bronze Bomber’ would jump straight into a huge bout, with his manager Shelly Finkel previously suggesting he would first take another tune-up fight.

But Wilder and Ngannou, who has boxed Joshua and Tyson Fury now, are both open to a ring return in a battle of the powerhouses.

The pair verbally agreed to a bout on social media, but it is unclear if an official agreement has been reached.

Another key option could be Joshua, who is yet to make his own return since losing to Daniel Dubois.

The pair previously had the framework of an agreement to touch gloves in 2024, but Wilder lost and derailed the bout.

Joshua has suggested he too could return in January, and a fight would still generate huge commercial interest.
