Armed police descended on a Liverpool street this morning after a man was stabbed, with neighbours hearing shouting before officers arrived at the scene. Merseyside Police confirmed armed officers rushed to Moscow Drive at around 11.10am after reports from North West Ambulance Service that a man was being treated for a stab wound to his arm and face.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, has since been taken to hospital for treatment. A 54-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, and a 76-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

They remain in police custody to be questioned.

Neighbours told the ECHO how shouting was heard in the street ahead of police arriving. One man told the ECHO: “I heard shouting in the street around 11am. There was a lot of arguing, a lot of people arguing.

“Police are always here, you become desensitised to it all. I didn’t even look out the window.”

He added: “It happens so much around here, you just lose interest in it all.”

Another resident explained how they heard a bang in the street before police arrived shortly after 11am.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “The use of knives has devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved, although two arrests have been made, we urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or captured the incident on dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage which may be vital to the case to please get in touch.”
