In what looks set to be the biggest new release of this month and quite possibly the whole of 2025, Sam Fender has revealed he’s teamed up with music legend Elton John for his new single. And it’ll be out in a matter of days.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2019 with number 1 debut album Hypersonic Missiles, Sam has become one of the music world’s hottest properties and, in February 2020, before we were all in the grip of the Covid pandemic, the North Shields singer duetted with Elton, the man famous for hits like Your Song, Tiny Dancer and Rocketman, at a lavish Oscars gala in Hollywood.

Since then, the musicians have forged a close friendship, with Sam also attending a star-studded dinner at Elton’s home in 2022, along with other celebs like the cast of Netflix smash Heartstopper and chart topping singer Dua Lipa. And, on Monday, after the pair of them hinted that they’d been working together in a post that went on Instagram on Sunday, Sam returned to Insta to announce that their collaboration, Talk to You, a song that Sam has been playing on tour this year, will be released this coming Friday, October 17.

Sharing a picture of the covert art from legendary photographer Tish Murtha, Sam wrote: ‘Talk to You featuring the legend @eltonjohn on piano, out this Friday.’ As you’d expect, the news quickly got a huge reaction, with one of Sam’s 1.2 million followers responding: ‘Just in time for it to make it onto my Spotify wrapped! Thanks Sam!’

Equally excited, another wrote: ‘LEGENDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD’S!!!’ and another replied: ‘Iconic.’ The news of Sam’s duet with Elton comes days before the People Watching star’s big gig on home turf at Thursday night’s Mercury Prize ceremony at the Utilita Arena.
