Hollyoaks is celebrating 30 glorious years on our screens with an explosive week jam-packed full of drama that will see lives changed forever, familiar faces from the past and carnage aplenty.

It’s fair to say that the Channel 4 soap has properly pulled out all the stops in making it one to remember, with the highly lauded Brookside set to stage a comeback as part of the celebrations, plus a one-off return for after-dark spin-off Hollyoaks Later.

They sure know how to treat us, don’t they?!

If that wasn’t enough, the main show itself has lined up a dramatic week of stories that will see chaos ensue – and when we say that they’ve gone large, we mean it.

Long-time legend Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), who has been a part of Hollyoaks since it’s very first episode, is set to tie the knot with one true love Diane (Alex Fletcher) once more.

Tone it down…

In typical soapy fashion, our Tone is harbouring a number of big secrets ahead of his nuptials, with the big one being that ex Marie Fielding (Rita Simons) is carrying his baby.

With Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) also pregnant with his child, Tony fears that bride-to-be Diane will uncover the truth about Marie and call things off once more.

There’s also the fact that he slept with Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) while married to Diane four years ago in a secret that has yet to be discovered by the bride to be!

Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson), as viewers know, recently discovered that this four-year-old daughter Morgan is biologically Tony’s child.

The revelation that his wife Nancy (Jessica Fox) slept with his best mate has absolutely destroyed him – but he’s adamant that he doesn’t want anyone to know. Even Tony.

But with Tony having asked him to be his best man, will Darren be able to keep a lid on things?

As the big day arrives, Nancy is relieved to see him getting ready for the big day – but he admits that he had a blackout and can’t remember anything from the night before.

Meanwhile, over at the Hutchinson’s, Tony is excited by the return of Ro, Ant and Dee Dee as they make it back to the village in time for the wedding.

It’s not all Plane sailing…

It looks like things are going to go off without a hitch, but little do Tony and Diane know that Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) and Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) are intent on blowing the whole wedding apart as a way of revenge on all those who have wronged them.

Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) has been roped into the plot, attempting to take Tori away. Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) urge him not to take Tori, but will Rex listen?

At the airfield, Clare waits for Tori so that she can finally flee. But will her plan prove a success?

That remains to be seen but tragedy and carnage soon ensues, as the fallout of the wedding day leaves the guests incredibly emotional. At the hospital, an ambulance arrives with a resident in peril in from the airfield.

In the aftermath of the wedding, Tony is met with a major shock – and he’s forced to make an impossible choice.

Meanwhile, in the village, Donny Clark (Louis Emerick) and his team of officers are dealing with the fallout of Clare’s dastardly plan – and the chaos that she has been in her wake.

Msbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) is incredibly worried about him as Donny is focused on doing his job. An altercation with Froggy Black (John Middleton), however, leaves him getting closer to uncovering a criminal gang – and a home truth soon follows.

A Close call…

Calling on taxi driver pal ‘Benny’ for assistance, Donny ignores his friend’s warning – and heads straight for Brookside Close.

The taxi pulls up in the eponymous Close and Donny exits, taking in the neighbourhood before him.

Sheila Grant (Sue Johnston)- yes, that is the Sheila Grant! – spots Donny and makes a beeline for the detective – and it’s clear that she’s very unhappy.

In typical Sheila fashion, she wastes little time in speaking her mind.

The question is: just what is it that she has to say? And what has brought Donny all the way to Brookside?

And for Laters…

The events of the Brookside crossover spill into Later as Hollyoaks’ 30th anniversary concludes in a big way.

Donny and Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) are forced to flee the Close as lives are left in mortal danger.

Meanwhile, Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass), Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence), Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith) and Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) escape to Liverpool for a break – but forgetting about their ordeal may prove harder than they think.

If there’s one thing we know about Hollyoaks it’s that it most certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to big occasions such as this one so it’s safe to assume that this will be a week you won’t want to miss!
