Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres watched his World Cup dream drift further away as Sweden lost to Kosovo.

Sweden suffered a 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in the fourth fixture of Group B, with Fisnik Asllani scoring the only goal.

Gyokeres’ scoring rut for Sweden continues, having not scored for his country for almost a year.

Starting alongside Liverpool’s Alexander Isak, the Arsenal striker was unable to influence the game.

Both Isak and Gyokeres have struggled early in the season, with the usually clinical pair unable to get things firing over the October international break.

Sweden’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup have shrunk considerably, in what is a terrible time at international level for Gyokeres.

Gyokeres has high standards for himself, so the striker will know more than anyone that the goals just aren’t flowing right now.

At Arsenal, Gyokeres’ start to the season has been average, scoring three Premier League goals in seven appearances.

There have been encouraging signs, but it’s so clear that the 27-year-old needs a goal to boost his confidence.

Gyokeres hasn’t scored in his previous six games for Arsenal, something the talisman will be desperate to resolve after a miserable international break.
