The vivo X300 is a step down from the Pro in terms of hardware, but that doesn’t mean it’s not “Pro” in its own right.

While the Pro uses the large 200MP 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HPB sensor in its zoom camera, the X300 puts it behind its main wide-angle camera. It’s a step up from the 1/1.56-inch camera in the X200, and should open up better in-sensor crop results, thanks to the bump in resolution.

The zoom camera uses a 50MP LYT-602 1/1.95-inch sensor behind a 70mm f/2.57 lens. The new chip supports vivo’s VCS technology and brings an 11.9% better noise sensitivity in low light. Despite having a smaller sensor, the 70mm optic earns the same rigorous Zeiss APO certification as the X300 Pro’s telephoto.

The selfie camera is a big upgrade over the old unit. It’s now a 50MP sensor with autofocus. It’s seemingly the same sensor used in the vivo X200 Ultra, which is no small thing -that’s an excellent camera.

We had the chance to do an extensive photo walk with the vivo X300 around Shanghai. Below, you’ll find assorted samples from all three cameras, including in-camera zoom modes (2x, 10x, 20x), dedicated macro samples, a few selfies, and a video playlist, all captured on the vivo X300.
