Internet sensation ‘Big John’ Fisher is set to be deported from Australia on his 52nd birthday.

Fisher, who is the dad of heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher, was scheduled to make appearances at Wentworth Park in Sydney as well as Perth Racing and and Hillary’s Beach Club in Perth, but in a video uploaded to X – formerly known as Twitter – the 51-year-old has confirmed that those plans have been scrapped and he will instead be flying back to the UK on his birthday.

“I’m in Australia but bad news, Im flying home tomorrow, on my birthday,” he began. “I’ve been detained by Border Force for four hours and I’m not in a holding hotel. My visa was legal coming in but they’re not happy with what I’m doing here so they’re sending me home.

“I’m sorry Australia – I’m sorry Perth, sorry Sydney – I won’t be at any of my appearances this weekend, but please support the ones I was going to be at because they’re going to be good days. I’ll let you know more when I get home. To be truthful I just want to get home. All the best, let’s have it. Bosh; or no bosh.”

The 51-year-old is due to make an appearance in Birmingham on October 22, followed by a trip to Chelmsford on October 24 and 25 to celebrate Oktoberfest. In a separate post uploaded to Instagram, Fisher posted an edited picture of him behind bars – with the words ‘free John Fisher’ written above it.

Fisher was eager to send a message to his Aussie supporters, writing: “I’ve got to laugh or I would cry , a legal visa which got me detained for 4 hours. Detained in Australia on my birthday. Totally gutted is an under statement. Love the Aussie people though. I’ll be back. Bosh.” His son, Johnny, was also quick to have his say on the matter, writing on Instagram: “The Aussies have detained Big John and are sending him home- rumour has it they are frightened of his express pace bowling ahead of the Ashes.”

‘Big John’ last week confirmed he will be making an appearance at the Backyard Comedy Club in East London on December 14, as well as teasing he will be visiting Portsmouth on November 7 and 8. In a post uploaded to X back in August, Fisher revealed he will be heading to Australia and America in November – with dates set to be confirmed.

The 51-year-old became a viral sensation because of his love of Chinese food and for his iconic “bosh” catchphrase. He regularly posts videos of his takeaways on his various social media accounts – which often go viral because of their size. As of October 14, his official Instagram account has 687,000 followers.

Fisher’s son is none other than heavyweight star Johnny. The 26-year-old boxing star quickly rose up the ranks because of his ferocious knockout power. The ‘Romford Bull’ holds a professional record of 13-1 having suffered his first defeat as a professional back in May to David Allen.

When is the next boxing event?

Kieron Conway will take on George Liddard on Friday, October 17 at York Hall, Bethnal Green. The main undercard is set to get underway at around 7pm UK time (11am ET / 8am PT / 10am CT).
