A fire broke out at a council depot in Alltami

Firefighters fought a blaze at a council depot last night (Tuesday). It broke out in Alltami and people were urged to avoid the area. The fire service said it involved a vehicle.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue statement said: “Officers are currently attending reports of a vehicle fire at the Flintshire Council depot on Pinfold Lane, Alltami. Please avoid the area and use alternative travel routes wherever possible.”

An eyewitness said there were around five fire engines at the scene tackling the blaze. There are no further details about the fire.

ANorth Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Five crews were called to a fire at a vehicle depot in Alltami, Flintshire at 20.20hrs last night (Tuesday 14th October). The stop was received at 23:55. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.”

A Flintshire County Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm there was a fire last night at the Alltami depot. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended and brought the fire under control.

“Several council vehicles were affected, however, thankfully, there were no injuries. We are working closely with the fire service to determine the cause of the fire and to assess the extent of the damage.

“Services operating from the depot may experience some disruption today. We are putting contingency plans in place to minimise any impact on residents.”
