Celtic fans will breathe a sigh of relief because domestic action will return this weekend.
It’s a chance for Celtic to really push forward and showcase why they are champions of Scotland, as the October international break has been a right laugh because of what has been coming out of Rangers.
After Rangers sacked Russell Martin, they have been looking for his successor, and the name of Steven Gerrard did the rounds, including getting the Gers fans excited like a kid at Christmas.
But Gerrard rejected the Rangers manager’s job for a second time, despite the one-trophy winner being seen as a club legend, as Craig Burley fired shots.

Rangers are the gift that keeps on giving, as Burley labelled those on the blue half of Glasgow as ‘desperate’ in their search for a new coach.
The former Celtic player made it clear that, despite the Hoops’ struggles in 2025, they are ‘still better’ than their rivals, and so is manager Brendan Rodgers.
Burley continued by asking, who on earth would want to manage Rangers right now, as he stated they are a ‘shadow’ of what they once were.
“He (Gerrard) has had a look at the shambles of recruitment that they have had,” said Burley. “He has had a look at Celtic, who, even their fans are moaning about, they didn’t strengthen.
“But they are still better. They have a better manager.
“If we are being honest, Gerrard won a title when Celtic were a little bit weak, but fair play to him, he did. Apart from that, what else has he done to return to this job?
“Villa? No. Saudi Arabia? No. It’s not like he is ripping up the trees here. Rangers are desperate. Who wants to manage that club, at the moment? They are a shadow of their former self.”
Celtic and Rangers aren’t the same anymore
Burley played for Celtic in the late 90s, and as some younger Hoops fans won’t believe, that’s when Rangers were in their dominant period and the 10IAR had been stopped.
Also, during that period, some incredible players represented Celtic and Rangers, but because of the finances being drained out of Scotland, and other European teams just running away, it’s no longer the case.
And that’s why Burley had this simple message about life in Glasgow in 2025.
“Celtic and Rangers, it’s just not what it used to be,” added Burley.
