BBC star Owain Wyn Evans has updated fans after missing a few shows for health reasons.

The One Show and Radio 2 presenter took to Instagram to share how he underwent surgery to remove “dodgy polyps” and praised the “amazing” NHS for their work.

Evans shared two selfies, one from the hospital bed and another one as he was recovering at home with a hot drink and his cat Franny by his side.

“Our NHS is amazing,” Evans began in the caption.

“Turns out I had some dodgy polyps in the old gallbladder, so out it came. All fine now. I can’t thank the incredible staff at West Ward 6 and surgical team at Llandough Hospital enough,” he continued.

Evans confirmed he won’t be returning to work quite yet as he takes some time off to recover, looked after by Franny and his husband, Arran Rees.

“I’m off work for a bit recovering – being cared for by Nurse Franny and Dr Arran (who despite not being a medical doctor is doing a good job),” Evans wrote.

The broadcaster then shared his experiences with the NHS, opening up on how it was crucial in helping both of his parents with serious illnesses.

“We’re lucky to have the NHS, it’s helped my family so much over the years with ongoing cancer care for my father and MS for my mother,” Evans wrote, adding that the NHS “saved” his husband Arran’s life “when he was a child”.

“Thank goodness we have it xx,” he concluded.
