Friends Andrew Frampton, 51, and Robin Goodfellow, 37, are on the run as fugitives in series eight of Channel 4’s suspenseful programme Hunted.

Mr Frampton is a farmer from Beaminster and comes from a large family of agricultural workers, as told on the TV show. Mr Goodfellow, from Netherbury, is an agricultural electrician.

The pair were hopeful that their west country roots would be the key to their success, expecting that the hunters would underestimate them as “two country bumpkins from Dorset”, said Mr Goodfellow on the show.

The show Hunted is a reality competition series where 14 ordinary people go on the run and must avoid being caught by a team of expert hunters using military and CIA tactics, led by former Detective Superintendent of Thames Valley Police, Ray Howard.

If they can evade capture for 21 days, they win a share of the £100,000 jackpot, although contestants soon find out that it is no easy task with surveillance in almost any location they may choose to hide.

In the first episode which aired on Sunday, the nation was introduced to the local pair as they prepared to disappear from plain sight.

Mr Frampton said: “If they underestimate us and just think we are a couple of oo-arr farmers – I mean, everything about us suggests that we are.

“We are bred really tough. Roughing it is a piece of cake for us. We have walked back from young farmers discos and I have drunk out of a water trough in the morning, just to try and rehydrate.”

The duo have so far survived until episode two, which showed last night, after the two after vanished from the start point at Stanstead airport.

The hunters back in HQ speculated their next moves and predicted they would stick to rural areas that would be familiar to them.

The show then comedically cut to Frampton and Goodfellow wondering through a field casually eating sugar snap peas.

Speaking of taking part, Mr Goodfellow said: “I’m hugely competitive. I would say, of all people I know, I would be the most competitive person. It was a real chance to see whether I could do it and more importantly, if anything, it was the adventure.”

The last two episodes of Hunted can be watched on catchup on the Channel 4 website.
