BBC’s Northern Irish drama Hope Street is returning for a fifth instalment in just a few weeks. The show, which viewers have compared to other comfy favourites like Doc Martin, has finally revealed when we’ll get to see the new episodes.

Created by Paul Marquess and Susanne Farrell, the crime procedural will be back in time for Halloween, as the new season is released right on 31 October.

As usual, the season will be available on iPlayer a few days before its airs on BBC One. Season 5 is currently scheduled to begin streaming on the platform on 27 October, with the full season available from 31 October.

Cameron Cuffe has been cast as Constable Donal Gallagher, while Jenn Murray is set to play Doctor Sasha Cookson. The duo will cross paths in the new episodes, with sparks flying between the former rugby player-turned-policeman and the straight-talking GP.

The new series is also set to hit a milestone as it will air its 50th episode.

“Hope Street captures the humour and warmth of this place perfectly and it has been great to see it strike a chord with audiences across the UK,” Mary McKeagney, Commissioning Editor for BBC Northern Ireland, said in a statement.

“It’s a real milestone for all involved to hit episode 50 and we’re very proud of what the series has achieved.”

On IMDb, the viewer in question noted that Hope Street follows “the Doc Martin formula with added crime”, while someone else called it a “light and breezy drama with a beautiful setting”.

Cast for season 5 includes Coronation Street’s Kerri Quinn as Marlene Pettigrew and Derry Girls star Tara Lynne O’Neill as Eve Dunlop, as well as Aaron McCusker as Clint Devine-Dunwoody, Niamh McGrady as Nicole Devine-Dunwoody, and Marcus Onilude as Luke Jackson, among others.
