Blame it on the international break. Some of the reports gaining traction in the last couple of weeks, whilst not totally outrageous, have seemed a little ‘far fetched’. West Ham need a striker in the January window, of that there is no doubt.

But every time another ‘report’ popped up linking the Hammers with Real Madrid’s Endrick , the whole concept of the Brazilian youngster landing at West Ham seemed less and less plausible.

Finally it seems that there’s a whole bunch of media outlets that have caught on and finally woken up and smelt the coffee. Kendrick, I’m sorry to say, won’t be east-London bound any time soon. Which will surprise exactly nobody in the claret and blue fan corner.

Finally it seems the reality has hit home: Endrick to West Ham? No chance.

Sportsmole.co.uk do seem to have resigned themselves to the inevitable:

“West Ham are allegedly not viewed as a realistic destination despite having already expressed an interest in his signature… West Ham are not looking in a particularly strong position right now to lure him away from the Bernabeu “

That’s something of an understatement. The teenager will have severe top clubs in Europe m – all with Champions League or Europa League footy to offer him and his agent – so West Ham’s chance of luring Kendrick to London stadium has always been, pretty slim.

For a striker who cannot get first team football and wants to play in the Premier League – the Irons would be in with a shout, guaranteed game time and all –  but chances are  it won’t be Real Madrid’s impressive young forward. More’s the pity.

And just in case Hammers fans are clinging forlornly to another ‘hopeful’ name being thrown around during the international break – wishful thinking won’t make it Ivan Toney either, on his £300k – plus a week wages. Not quite in David Sullivan’s price range.
