Thelma Barlow, who played Mavis Wilton for 26 years in the long-running soap Coronation Street, was greeted by stallholders and passersby today (Friday, October 17).
A spokesperson for Ludlow Market said they were “thrilled” to welcome the ITV star to the market.
“Known and loved for her iconic roles, Thelma brought extra sparkle to our fabulous stalls, the spokesperson said.
“You’ll never know who you’ll bump into at Ludlow Market… come see for yourself!”
Jo Mitchell-Hill, of Duncan Hill Jewellery, had chatted to the 96-year-old, who is said to have been with friends.
“She was beautiful, she was a lovely lady,” she said.
Ms Mitchell-Hill, who has previously taken selfies with the likes of Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs and EastEnders’ Samantha Janus, said Barlow was “just chatting like a normal person”.
