Shipley Manor Care Home was visited by the Care Quality Commission on two dates in September.

The care home cares for adults aged under and over 65 years old and those living with dementia or physical disabilities.

It received an ‘outstanding’ rating in the category of care and ‘good’ in all other areas – including safety, effectiveness, responsiveness, and leadership.

There were 62 people living at the service at the time of the care home’s assessment.

The CQC had not previously rated Shipley Manor Care Home, the report stated.

Inspectors said: “The service provided to people was consistently kind, caring, and highly responsive to people’s needs. Staff were observed treating individuals with dignity and compassion, fostering strong, respectful relationships built on trust.

“Care was person-centred, with people’s preferences and goals actively listened to and reflected in the support they received.

“The service demonstrated a strong commitment to effective care by ensuring staff had the skills and knowledge required, supporting positive outcomes for people. Workforce wellbeing was a clear priority, with staff feeling valued, supported, and motivated, contributing directly to the high standard of care delivered.

“However, we found some improvement was needed in the management of medicines to ensure this was delivered to the same standard as the care.

“One person shared, ‘Nothing is too much to ask them for’, highlighting the team’s responsiveness and willingness to go above and beyond.

“The service also supported people to enjoy meaningful activities and their surroundings, as reflected by a person who said, ‘I would tell anyone to come and live here. We went on the canal for a walk yesterday, and the garden is fabulous’.

“Another person told us, ‘I love watching football which I can have on in my room, and we are going to start playing bowls and I can get a pool table’.

“Relatives also expressed deep appreciation.”

Sharon Burton, care home manager at Shipley Manor, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our team and everything they’ve achieved, especially being recognised as Outstanding for Caring.

“It’s a reflection of the genuine compassion and dedication our staff show every single day. This celebration is our way of saying thank you to our team, our residents, and their families for being part of what makes Shipley Manor such a special place.

“We’re thrilled to share this moment with our local community.”

The care home is set to host a special celebration event on Saturday (October 25), starting with a drinks reception at 2pm.

There will be a live performance from local singer Craig Carlisle at 3pm, and a buffet for residents, families, and guests.
