Kate Garraway confessed she was completely oblivious to Tom Daley’s legendary eye-rolling moment during an episode of Celebrity Traitors. The withering look from the five-time Olympic champion in the second instalment of the programme became a social media sensation earlier this month.

Daley’s reaction came after the presenter proclaimed herself “flabbergasted” following the ‘elimination’ of vocalist Paloma Faith in the wake of a coffin-themed task.

The 58-year-old acknowledged on Good Morning Britain last week that she was utterly clueless about the former diving star’s dismissive expressions.

Whilst hosting the breakfast programme alongside Adil Ray, with comedian Melvin Odoom also joining them, the discussion quickly shifted to the popular BBC programme as Garraway disclosed: “You don’t (know) until it goes out. So I didn’t notice that. I was just flabbergasted.”, reports Wales Online.

Daley, who met his demise in episode three, was questioned about his now-famous side-eye during a chat with the Metro, where he expressed astonishment at his own facial expression.

“I don’t even remember me having any kind of reaction to it,” the-31 year-old remarked whilst chuckling. “When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there was no poker face from me.'”.

Garraway explored the response the viral moment generated within her own home during her Good Morning Britain presenting duties, revealing the programme sparked a thorough discussion with her offspring.

She said: “The weird thing for me is like everyone at home we don’t know anything that is happening, we don’t know about the people talking about us behind our back and it prompted a massive conversation with my kids last night.

“‘Oh my gosh people are talking about you behind your back, what is going to happen’. It allowed me to have the conversation with them that this is a game and everyone in there is playing a game.

“Actually in life you can’t control what people say about you so you just have to be yourself. I just had to say that so people don’t blame Tom Daley or anyone else.”

Daley, who burst onto the Olympic scene at Beijing 2008 aged just 14, stepped away from competitive diving after Paris 2024 where he and Noah Williams secured silver in the 10 metre platform synchronised event.

The silver marked the fifth Olympic medal for the British star, adding to his golden triumph at Tokyo 2020 in the 10 metre synchronised platform diving alongside Matty Lee.

He also bagged three bronze medals across three different Games.
