Wednesday’s Geelong Cup is suddenly under threat due to wild winds that could roar around the course at 130 km/h.

Racing journalist and form analyst Carl Di Iorio sounded the alarm when seeing the forecast.
“The Geelong Cup meeting scheduled for Wednesday may be at risk if the forecast holds true,” he said on social media.
“Winds averaging 60-80km/h with gusts of 100-120km/h are predicted to develop ‘over the southern parts of the Central district including Geelong‘ … during the early afternoon.”
Rains is also a strong chance and thunderstorms could lash the course in the morning, too.
Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria, issued the “Severe Weather Warning” on Wednesday.
“Damaging winds developing over much of Victoria on Wednesday, with destructive wind gusts possible about the southwest coast from late morning,” BOM said.
People in Central Victoria, East Gippsland, Mallee, South West, Northern Country, North Central, North East, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera Forecast Districts were also warned of “locally destructive winds”.
