Chris Sutton admits Hearts have the ability to win the league from Celtic this season.
With the investment the Tynecastle club have had and the input of Tony Bloom’s analytics company, Hearts do look like they could put up a challenge to Celtic.
After Celtic’s defeat to Dundee, the microscope is firmly on the Parkhead club after getting out of jail with stuttering performances against Motherwell and Kilmarnock, finally caught up with Brendan Rodgers.
However, while Sutton agrees Hearts could challenge Celtic, he’s simply not having what he’s hearing about the Bhoys falling behind the Tynecastle club.

A Hearts fan called a BBC radio phone-in show to give his view on the current supposed title fight between Celtic and Hearts when Sutton admitted a race is on.
Sutton told BBC 606 [40m], “I have total respect for Hearts and the job that Derek McInnes has done. Hearts have a great chance of winning the league this season based on the rabble that Rangers and Celtic are at this moment.
“Hearts have been good.”
And after the Hearts fan claimed that Celtic and Rangers have fallen behind the Tynecastle club due to the investment made by Tony Bloom, the former Celtic striker wasn’t having that.
Sutton continued, “It’s a big call, fallen behind. You’ve won a couple of games, a few late goals and what have you.
“All of a sudden you think you’ve cracked it.”
The last time Hearts challenged for the league title delivered a great piece of Celtic history
Celtic fans of a certain vintage will remember the last time Hearts tried to challenge Celtic for the title.
1986, Albert Kidd day, is a day etched in the memory of thousands of Celtic supporters.
On the final day of the season, all Hearts had to do was avoid defeat to win the league while Celtic fans had to bank on not only Dundee beating the Edinburgh club, but also hope the Bhoys could beat St Mirren at Love Street by four goals or more.
With Hearts drawing 0-0 with seven minutes to go, and Celtic 5-0 up in Paisley, Albert Kidd was brought on as a late substitute when he scored a double to sink the Tynecastle club and hand the title to the Hoops.
