Jockeys voted against continuing to ride at Kyneton on Tuesday because of a safety issue with sections of the Victorian racetrack.
A delegation of riders told stewards of their concern about several areas on the home turn following the first of eight scheduled races.
The track was aerated following a stewards’ inspection but the remedial action wasn’t enough to convince jockeys they should keep riding.
“We had three riders report that their mounts slipped in the first race, in differing areas of the track around the home turn,” Racing Victoria steward Damien Carr told Racing.com before jockeys withdrew their services.
“The track manager has run the aerator over the track, he’s done as much as he can. We’ve had a look at it and the riders have had a look at it.”
