Speaking about the experience to People at the time, Anne said: ‘At first, I was curious how it would go. People always say don’t work with your spouse. But I loved working with him.
‘He’s really good at this, and he’s a wonderful producer. And I feel like I actually learned a lot from him in the process.’
The actress gave a glimpse into their love story in 2020, during a chat with pal Drew Barrymore.
She revealed her second date with the father of her children was at Barrymore’s Halloween party, as she made a remote appearance Thursday on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Drew came prepared with a photo of Hathaway at that year’s party.
‘Do you know who the guy next to me is?’ Hathaway asked, as the talk show host responded: ‘Do tell.’Â
She explained of the photo, which depicted herself and Shulman, 39, looking terrified in a graveyard: ‘That’s my husband and your Halloween party was our second date.’
Drew reacted: ‘How crazy is that? And you looked so cute. You looked like a hot androgynous fem dude from like a Fellini film.’
Anne recently insisted that despite her global fame she is a regular person, who loves to stay home with her family (Seen with Adam in April)Â

The Princess Diaries star said: ‘That is probably the best compliment I’m going to get all day, maybe all week because that is my dream and kind of what I always aspire to. My costume that year was Lost Angeles.Â
‘I imagined that I was a starlet who had fallen on hard times and been run over.
‘And my hairdo in that was a wig that reminded me of a Seventeen Magazine shoot that you did when I was a teenager that I spent all summer trying to replicate but it was impossible because you have angel hair and mine is lovely but it is brown and straight.’
She also revealed what she and Adam had in mind for the family’s Halloween costumes this year.
Anne explained: ‘So Jonathan is very into the Cars movie franchise so he is going to be Lightning McQueen and Adam is going to be Doc Hudson.
‘And Jack who is 11 months old is climbing on everything, so he is going to be a monkey and I am going to be holding him all night so I am going to be a tree.’
