London Broncos were unsuccessful in their bid for Super League status next year, and will therefore spend another season in the Championship.
Signings such as Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Siliva Havili showed their intent to compete in the top flight, but they will have to wait another year if they are to return to the first division.
Now, their focus remains on building to be amongst the best the Championship has to offer, and after a 10th placed finish in 2024, there is much work to be done in regards to the playing squad for that to happen.
New Broncos owner Darren Lockyer has already stated that they will be investing significantly into the squad, as shown by their two NRL imports. London have now added another player to their squad for next season, as a Wakefield Trinity youngster joins their ranks.
Neil Tchamambe only made his Super League debut at the end of last season, having joined Salford Red Devils for four games to see out the year. Scoring twice in that time, the tall and speedy winger was one of the better players in a struggling Salford side, and impressed both Paul Rowley and Daryl Powell with his efforts. The 20-year-old also appeared for Goole Vikings in League One this year, appearing 10 times for Scott Taylor’s side.
The former Hull KR man started his career at the Leeds Rhinos academy, before moving to the Robins ahead of 2024. At the start of this year, he moved to Trinity, with outside back Noah Booth heading in the other direction. Next year will hopefully see him have a longer run of games in a first-team environment, as he links up with Jason Demetriou’s side for the upcoming season.
Wakefield’s Director of Rugby, Ste Mills, has given the reasons behind the move, with the club hoping he can kick on in 2026 after somewhat of a breakout campaign this year.
He said: “A season long loan with the London Broncos will provide Neil a great living experience and some valuable first team rugby. We see this as a perfect opportunity for Neil to keep developing on his Rugby League journey with the ultimate end goal of playing week in, week out for Wakefield Trinity in Super League.”
